Kendrick Lamar Covers ‘Rolling Stone’, Calls New Album “Honest, Fearful & Unapologetic”

It took Kendrick Lamar only a tweet and an Instagram post for the audience to shift its attention and forget about Drake’s new album and Kanye West’s forthcoming project.

After unveiling the artwork for his upcoming album To Pimp a Butterfly last night, Kendrick now appears on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine.

In the issue, Kendrick opens up about his insecurities, past run-ins with police and his intense new album, which is set for release March 23.

Lamar described the album as “honest, fearful and unapologetic.” As for the odd title, he only said , “That will be taught in college courses someday.”

“You take a black kid out of Compton and put him in the limelight, and you find answers about yourself you never knew you were searching for,” he added. “There’s some stuff in there, man. It’s a roller coaster. It builds.”

Although the track list has yet to be revealed, we did learn the title of a new track: King Kunta – a track that Pharrell Williams has labeled “unapologetically black.”
